Thanksgiving Weekend Trip Ideas

Thanksgiving in New York

This year has been tough for many. My best friend Shah who is a South Asian had a wedding planned in December. But sadly he is not going anywhere! Let alone his wedding.

So, our friends decided to go on a road trip. While we are making our plan turn into a reality. We also got to list down a few great spots to vacation. By the time I finish this piece and post it, It must be the Big Black Friday. However, in case you live in the nearby city of our choice. Then take our word and make that trip a reality.

Lake Placid – New York

In the times of Covid-19, it is better to ditch the parades and throngs of people. Rather go connect with nature. The weather is quite chilly. However, it is peaceful and the right kind of therapy one needs in stressful times.

Camp in the area, catch fish in the river and make great campfires with friends or family. Show gratitude for things such as health and life.

Santa Barbara  – California

If the big city has dried you up then head for Santa Barbara. Hear all the ones from LA to San Francisco, you can ditch the depression and find all the peace and calm of this great city. The mild weather and the soothing beach is the right therapy. But more importantly, there is loads of lovely wine around. The vineyards of the places nearby will make this Thanksgiving all the more worth it. So don the mask and sip the great wine that can be called pure art.

Orlando  & Key West– Florida

Floridians already have the blessing of some good old sun shining around them. However, the situation otherwise is the same as what the world is facing. Covid-19 has caught us all. But there is no harm in being thankful for whatever we have.

So this weekend, try to find a car and drive up to Orlando. Ditch the reality and find your kind of thrills that make you thankful for this year as well. However, we believe that this year you go to the side of nature. Sadly, people associate Orlando with theme parks. But there is a lot more there. You can go to Gatorland and enjoy the sights of countless alligators and crocodiles. Book the balloon rides and take the scenic view from the top or explore the swamps of Kissimmee.

Key West is great for aquatic lovers. One can snorkel, swim, and explore the beautiful beaches. Kayak through the mangroves or if literature is your thing, then there is Ernest Hemingway’s abode waiting to be seen by you!

There is a lot on this island, from the people to the happy bars all that you can easily explore on a bicycle. This Thanksgiving cycle and make yourself healthy too. You can always shop for anything important from Travel Jin right here to make your stay easy.

Maple Valley & Leavenworth – Washington

Depending on your proximity to either of the cities you can find your spot for Thanksgiving weekend.  As we stress exploring nature and avoiding people this year. Maple Valley is one mesmerizing answer for this condition. The hikes, trails, and rivers all are the ticked options for this place. You just need comfortable shoes, some good surviving skills, and good stamina to make this weekend all about thanking your friends for joining you on this trip.

Camp, bike or catch fish with your circle and stay safe this year.

Leavenworth is a postcard image of what a holiday city should look like. The industrial shift in the 60’s made this lumber town more of a tourist town. The look of this place is that of a book that described a German village. The food, beer, and even houses all paint a Bavarian look. Explore the wild areas that are safe for hikers and explorers. But also, the thanksgiving here is magnificent.  The winter season is magical with all the festive lights put around the town. Not to forget the liquor here is mind-blowing. Silvara Cellars is said to be a top tasting place for the variety.

Plymouth – Massachusetts

We never stop visiting the history! So here is where it all started. Plymouth takes the celebration level up with people dressing up as pilgrims, soldiers, aptriots walking around town. The parade and the floats are seen on the Saturday after Black Friday. However, this year it might not happen.

Most important is Plimoth Plantation. This is a recreation of the 17th-century colony. Here, you experience the real way people lived with the right English touch. Get to see how the tradition of Thanksgiving all started from this part of America.
