Jet2holidays and Jet2 are launching new coronavirus insurance for British travelers. However, this policy will work even if the Foreign Office changes its travel advice to their destination.
There are many other travel firms offering insurance specific to coronavirus. But Jet2’s new addition covers even if the Foreign Office changes or puts any new restrictions for traveling to a certain destination.
Changes in Travel Restrictions
Amid the pandemic, the FCDO has been changing travel restrictions constantly. Whereas, in some cases advising against ‘all but essential travel’ to a destination with less than 48 hours’ notice.
When this advice changes and there are restrictions for that destination. It clearly means that holidays to that destination are over. Moreover, it invalidates most travel insurance policies.
However, Jet2’s new FCDO cover means that it will protect both before passenger travel, or if they are in the destination. And the FCDO advises against ‘all but essential’ travel due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
But the insurance will still cover the expenses up to £10m medical, £5,000 cancellation, and £2,000 baggage cover.
New Insurance Policy
The new cover will automatically be included in all new Single Trip Travel Insurance policies to Europe bought on or after the 17th September 2020.
It will also be added free of charge to any existing single trip policies to Europe. That is bought between the 9th April and 16th September 2020.
However, if anyone has a policy with Jet2 and it doesn’t cover those dates and they want the FCDO cover. Then they will have to buy a new policy with the company.
If there is any cancelation in holidays due to the coronavirus pandemic. The travel firm is currently offering options such as rebooking free of charge, a Refund Credit Note, or a full cash refund.
