According to Flight Centre’s CEO, domestic travel could begin to resume in the United States by June. Meanwhile, international travel could remain on hold for another six months. The travel restrictions would ultimately rely primarily on government policies.
Expectations of flights resumption
“My feeling is, and this is in places like Southeast Asia, Australia, North America, the domestic side of things will start picking up, start returning to normal, mainly on government dictates, in June,” Flight Centre’s CEO Graham Turner said on Tuesday.
“But the more international side of it we think it’s probably going to be more September, October, which is, you know, six months away,” he added.
“A lot of change in the way governments work in the next few weeks.”, Graham Turner expects.
Balancing expenses and salaries
Graham said he wants to take advantage, where possible, of government grants to maintain the remainder of his some 20,000 employees before the travel industry gets back on its feet.
“There will certainly be lots of opportunities when things return to relative normal,” said Graham Turner.
